Simple design. Tailored cut. Extra layers where it counts.
At Bummis, we love cloth diapers a lot. That being said, we know that at some point you’ll be happy to be done with them! Our Potty Pant will be your little one’s trusty companion for the transition from changing table to big-kid potty.
What’s so great about cloth? It lets your little one feel the wetness. Peeing in a potty starts to seem like a better idea after all. The icing on the cake? Babies in cloth tend to potty train SOONER!
The Potty Pant is absorbent and was designed to prevent leaks when accidents happen. It was not designed to be as absorbent as a diaper, so may not be appropriate at nap time or bed time for some big-kids-in-training.
Our Potty Pant is made with careful attention to detail in our own wonderful factory in the Montreal area, so that we are assured of good quality and fair labour practices. As much as possible, we use fabric and components that are sourced in North America. Our products are guaranteed to be free of lead, phthalates and BPA.
When I started potty training my oldest the trainer that Bummis sold was more like "The Pull-On" with a soaker inside. It was bulky and fit large but did the job. I was very sceptical about these new Potty Pant when they came out but I purchased a few and they are wonderful. They are slim fitting and do not stick out the top of pants like the old style. I find them to have lots of absorbency and great waterproof material. Thank you for the upgrade in product.
This cloth trainer is perfect. Our son can pull it on and off himself. It is not a diaper and will not hold a full pee, but that's what a trainer is all about. If he starts to go, it holds enough that he can get to the toilet to finish. When he was first learning, he would wear one on longer car trips and to daycare to prevent any full accidents. It certainly limits to mess from accidents. We've also used it at naptime to help with the transition from diaper to no diaper. One suggestion is to keep the designs/ fabric different from diaper designs - for my son that was a selling feature when he didn't want to wear a 'diaper' anymore but I could convince him to wear the trainer because it looked different.
Love these trainers
These training pants work well. They are great for my daughter. These will leak if the child has big accidents so it's best for little ones. They do fit on the small side which works great for me as I have small kids.
Easy to use; use doubler
My daughter is completely trained now, with the occasional accident. Yet, when we're on a long car ride or a long trip out, I like to put one on her. She hates disposable pull-ups but doesn't complain about it when I don't insert a doubler in. The "doubler" I use is one they had on sale, which was really a trial for cloth mama pads but apparently didn't work out. It fits in very well. The only drawback is that it tends to bunch up if not pulled up very carefully. So, I have to pull it up for her. I plan to buy velcro strips to stick on and secure the pant-doubler pairs. I think that will solve the problem. I haven't yet tested for absorbency because my daughter is 3 now and doesn't technically need a pull-up. I don't know if I'll ever test for absorbency. I hope not! But the sales clerk did tell me that it is unlikely to contain a whole pee without a doubler (Re: Elizabeth's review above). That it was more for an oops moment when they can run to the bathroom quickly.
I have 4 different brands of cloth trainers and these are my favourites! They are very absorbent for how trim they are. They will start to wick out of the binding if not changed for a while, but they are trainers not diapers. The inside is very soft unlike some of my other trainers with cotton terry inners. My 2.5 year old can pull them up and down easily enough. He still pees smaller amounts more frequently, so if your child holds it for hours, these may leak more for you. For smaller accidents though, they are awesome!
Disappointed in not so waterproof fabric
We are in the early stages of potty training with my 23 month old. It's a little more like a mix between potty training and elimination communication, so we still have more accidents than not. I was hoping that these potty pants would be waterproof like the flip diapers that I love but with the connivence of pulling up and down for potty time. While they are a great fit and easy to pull up and down, each time she pees without taking it off it goes through the "waterproof fabric" through her clothes and in a puddle on the ground... or the couch! It is no different from her thick cloth gerber underwear we got her for training, that cost much less. I'm very disappointed that they do not contain wetness as claimed.
